Counsellor's Corner

Dear ISA Families,

Winter wellbeing is an important topic right now, and part of that is getting outside for some exercise and good old fashioned vitamin D. Ruth Lowry, an exercise psychologist at the University of Essex, researched the effects of staying active during the colder months, and she talks about the 3 benefits of winter exercise in this quick and engaging video:

We have another family wellbeing survey coming out next week, and we will want to hear how you are coping with new routines during the recent lockdown.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can help with any questions before then. We are always here for a simple chat, and also to help with more serious circumstances as well.

You might enjoy this family guide from GetOutside- the Map Art is especially fun.  GetOutside aims to develop creative outdoor pursuits and states that “getting outside with kids can be challenging, but encouraging them at a young age can give them an appreciation that lasts a lifetime.”

Stay safe and well.

Warm Regards,

Valerie DeGraw
