New Learning Habits
Progress reports are made available today through PowerSchool and I would encourage you to log in and read the comments teachers have written. The feedback focuses on ISA's Learning Habits which are shown below this message.
There is no doubt that distance learning has come with many new challenges and the independence and self motivation required to succeed are not normally expected until tertiary levels of education. To be able to manage time well, take responsibility for one's learning, be proactive in seeking help and collaborate effectively through digital platforms are invaluable skills that students will have striven to develop since January. There is now light at the end of the tunnel in terms of a return to the campus but the skills developed through Virtual School will stay with the students and benefit them greatly in the future.
As you reflect on the reports with your son or daughter, it will be worth getting them to think about what these learning habits have looked like for them during Virtual School. I think they can be proud of how they have risen to the challenge.
Responsibility
The student is well prepared for class, submits quality work that meets deadlines and organizes their time effectively. The student seeks support and guidance when needed.
Engagement
The student is focused and on task in class, ensuring a high level of effort and perseverance. The student takes risks with their thinking and willingly participates in discussions.
Collaboration
The student works constructively with others and is an effective communicator; listening respectfully to ideas and feedback from both teachers and students.
