Graduation Part II
My first Thistle entry this year was about the graduation we held in August for the Class of 2020 and so it seemed fitting for me to go full circle and include the Class of 2021's graduation in my final post. Both ceremonies involved masks and social distancing but for the more recent one we were able to include a limited number of parents, in line with the government's guidelines.
The speeches were naturally reflective in nature and talked about the challenges of learning during a pandemic. However, there was also a great deal of positivity and an acknowledgement that if these young people can navigate the difficulties they have faced over the past year, they can tackle anything that comes their way. There was a definite sense of optimism and many of the sentiments shared were echoed in student posts in our Yearbook. All of our students can be very proud of how they have conducted themselves this year and I hope that they can enjoy a little more freedom over the upcoming months as restrictions ease.
As well as wishing our graduates and departing families all the best for the future, we sadly have to say goodbye to some faculty members. I am sure you join me in thanking the following teachers for the devotion they have shown to ISA over the years and the care they have afforded the students; Mr Kempton, Dr Fletcher, Mr Garry, Mr Crock and Mr West.
I hope you enjoy a restful break with family and friends and we look forward to welcoming the students back in August.
