Football Comes Home
There was something of a buzz around the upper floors of the ISA campus at the end of this week (and it wasn't the wasps that had been moved on from the vicinity of the lower car park). Our middle school students were clearly excited about next week with a rich variety of activities on offer for the Aberdeen-based programme, and the prospect of 4 nights away at an outdoor centre for those travelling. On Thursday, our senior boys and girls football teams both had matches after against Kemnay, bringing in-person competitive sport back to the campus with a fair sized, socially-distanced crowd in attendance. Our musicians also showcased their talents in a jazz festival.
After such a long absence this excitement is understandable and it has been great to be a part of it. I am sure the activities week will provide fond memories for future years (I heard an older advisory group reminiscing about their experiences this morning) and the football matches were competitive but good-natured, with teams enjoying a barbecue together outdoors after the games.
To preserve access to school trips and matches, extra caution is needed, with a noticeable rise in cases among young people. It is important that we keep our guards up with regards Covid and continue to take lateral flow tests twice a week; isolating as a family when symptoms appear and a PCR is required. Google Classroom will allow children to stay in touch with classes when they are at home and I am grateful to so many of our families who have already erred on the side of caution when their child felt unwell and put the wider community first. Thank you for your continued efforts to allow for a safe and rich learning environment to develop.
