A Busy Week
The first residential trip we have had for a while at MS/HS returns today and by all accounts the students have had an amazing time. They have taken themselves out of their comfort zones, tried new things and even had a special visitor. Alongside this we had a rich variety of day activities running for a group of 13 students and they enjoyed snowboarding, curling and a beach clean-up to name just a little of the programme.
Covid has made the set up and management of these 5 days very challenging and I am incredibly grateful to our teachers who have led the events and ensured a memorable, but safe activity week. A special mention must go to Ms Sarah Cusworth who has worked tirelessly to make this experience possible. I am also aware that some families had to take difficult decisions regarding their child's participation when households were required to isolate - thank you for acting with the wider community in mind.
Our experiences this week will help inform planning for the future as we continue to balance a rich educational experience against the limitations imposed by a pandemic. We have shown though that programmes such as this week are possible again.
There is now only a week left to the break and I hope your children will finish this half of the semester strongly. Short report comments come out just before the holiday and these focus on our learning habits (responsibility/engagement/collaboration). You will be able to access these through PowerSchool and in November we will run our parent-teacher conferences.
