Banishing those Shorter Day Blues
The clocks change this weekend and we can expect to see shorter days and chillier weather. It is natural for positivity to falter a little at this time of year and so it is important we look to lift spirits wherever we can. Today at school, students have been celebrating Halloween with our student councils taking a lead in promoting door decorating and costume wearing. Middle School students have a dance to look forward to on campus tonight and I expect there will be a very good turn out. Students will still be following our covid precautions at the dance, wearing a mask (in addition to any ghoulish ones), and we will be using the larger, airier space of the QET and Street area.
Following this celebration we have the month of Yesvember! to look forward to. Members of our community will be running fun events each day over the course of the month. This event is now in its third year and previous offerings have included; 'Treats and Beats' in the mornings, 'RAKtivists' (random acts of kindness), lunchtime puzzles, film viewings and mindfulness sessions. I am looking forward to some pleasant surprises over the next few weeks.
Next week you will receive information about the parent teacher conferences taking place on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th of November. When the booking system opens, I hope you will take the opportunity to connect with your child's teachers via the virtual Meets that will be taking place on those days.
