Activities Week
Families with Grade 9-11 students at the school are receiving notes home at the moment that will hopefully bring some cheer and a reason to be optimistic. We have finalised destinations for our residential trips in early March next year and I hope the students are excited about the possibilities. The middle and high school trips we ran this semester were very well received and something of a highlight against a backdrop of pandemic cancellations and curtailments. We have learnt that we can't take anything for granted and a new variant is gathering pace. I hope these UK-based extracurricular experiences will weather the storm though.
Grade 9 students will travel to Edinburgh and the central belt for a rich programme of activities. Grade 10 students will go to Northumberland and work with rangers in the national park there, basing themselves on the coast. Grade 11 will travel to Perthshire to undertake an exciting outdoor challenge along the River Tay.
The aim is to give students experiences they wouldn't normally be exposed to, allow for new friendships to become established, and old ones to be consolidated. The trips will encourage resilience and team building, taking students outside of their familiar comfort zones. For any student not able to travel for whatever reason, a series of locally based day activities will be available.
