Greener Commutes
As the days go by we are starting to see a little more daylight and this week has been relatively mild and dry. With the support of an enrichment grant from the PTO, we are currently building a bike shed close to the existing racks. A concrete footprint has been poured and the shelter will go up in due course. The benefits of regular exercise and spending time outdoors are well established and cycling in is likely to have a positive impact on a student's learning that day.
Cycling is an environmentally friendly mode of transportation that offers independence and flexibility; public transport is another. The government is allowing Young Scot card holders to use public transport free of charge. To take advantage of this you will need to apply for a new card through a link on the Transport Scotland page. The application is a rather painstaking process, and needs to be done by parents for students under 16, but will be worth it.
