DON’T MISS IT!
In my top ten of annual events taking place at ISA during my 28 years as a principal, there are three that stand out in the ‘podium’ stakes. At number 3 it’s the Ceilidh, usually held at the start of December. Number 2 is the October International Festival. My gold medal, however, goes to the Elementary Open House, held annually in the spring. THIS EVENT IS NOT TO BE MISSED!
All three events share one thing in common; they bring our ISA community together, including everyone from students, parents/extended family and the school staff. How satisfying it will be to meet in person as part of the ISA family after a long and difficult two years!
With the relaxing of Covid restrictions the school is already starting to get its vibe back as parents are returning to the building. As we draw to the end of the school’s 50th year, we can come together with unrestricted numbers on Thursday, May 19th. Parents, please reserve the date in your diary. From 6:30-8:00pm on that Thursday evening, you are warmly invited to an informal Open House where you can look at ISA artwork and see student work in other subjects, especially science. All the Elementary boys and girls are encouraged to act as tour guides for their parents. They should stay with you throughout the tour of all the classes from Pre-school through Grade 5. A walk through the school will be memorable for the dazzling artwork that will greet visitors at every turn. Congratulations to Mandy Goynes, our incredible art teacher, for her continuous efforts to inspire the best out of her students. A special shout out to parent volunteer, Emma Jaclin, for her countless hours of support in setting up the art displays, not just for the Open House, but throughout the year.
Each year group is currently busy finalising plans to make for a most memorable occasion. We have a dynamic assembly, featuring every student, on Monday to officially start a week of sharing amongst all the classes. Please remember that due to limited space in the theatre only one member of each household can attend the Monday, May 16th morning assembly.
We’re delighted, however, to give every member of our ISA community the opportunity to help us to rejoice in the accomplishments of all of our young students in the evening of May 19th. Look out for additional details about the Art and Science Fair in teacher newsletters.
