From the Middle/High School Principal

 Transitions

With just six weeks of the school year left to run it is natural to start thinking ahead to next semester. At the recent in-service day teachers of grades 5 and 6 came together with Mrs DeGraw to look at ways to support students making the move to middle school. The excellent ideas coming out of the meeting built on several month of collaboration between teaching teams and this year's support for the transition looks to be by far the strongest in my time here. It was fun to see what the Grade 5 students had responded to in a survey regarding what they were excited about, and helpful to learn what they were anxious about. We are looking forward to seeing the grade 5s engaging with our grade 6 students and teachers over the upcoming weeks to ease any worries.

It is also going to be a significant step for our grade 8s who enter high school and the first year of their IGCSEs. Their advisors have been looking at ways to mark the transition with the students requesting something by way of a fun event to mark their MS 'graduation'. Our grade 10 students have made their IBDP subject choices and Ms Barker has been working a lot with them on their pathways. This group returns a day or two before everyone else in August for an induction to the IB programme.

Whilst we are all looking forward to the possibilities August will bring, there is still plenty to be done over the remaining weeks (unless you play for Norwich City). Finishing the semester strongly and giving one's best to upcoming assessments will be a good springboard for next year.
