Welcome back!
We hope that your children are enjoying the start of school. We look forward to developing your child's wellbeing this year through activities that will raise their awareness of resilience, executive function skills and self regulation. To get the year off to a good start, these tips on resilience might be helpful:
1. Re-frame setbacks or events not going according to plan.
2. Encourage connections with friends, teachers, and family activities.
3. Provide a sense of purpose through hobbies, volunteering, and after school activities.
4. Share examples of people who have overcome obstacles.
5. Validate your child's emotions, and help them advocate for their own solutions.
6. Encourage them to try new things and learn from their mistakes.
7. Remind them that we can't control everything, but we can control how we respond.
8. Look at challenges as short term obstacles.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need anything. The connected 'who does what' section of the community hub has our contacts and we want to hear from you.
Kind Regards,
Valerie DeGraw
