From the Middle/High School Principal

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year at ISA!

A special welcome to our new students and also to our 6th and 9th Grade students who have moved up to the Middle School or High School. The first few days of school can be particularly exciting, and sometimes daunting. As students move to the Middle School (MS) and High School (HS),  please do not hesitate to communicate with your child’s teachers, advisor, guidance counsellor or myself if you have any questions about these transitions. We have had a large number of new students enrolling this semester and I am confident many new friendships will quickly form.

We are also joined this year by Helene Brossard (MS/HS French), Tom Joyce (MS English, Lens-based media), Callum Marshall (MS/HS Maths, Computing), Sandra Walter (MS Humanities) and Stacey McMorran (MS Musical Theatre). These teachers have been working hard to hit the ground running with their classes and are a welcome addition to our teaching team.

Over the next week or so you can expect to receive more details about your child’s options for the activity week in October. It is hoped most of our students will take advantage of the residential opportunities but we also have an Aberdeen-based programme for those unable to travel. Please try to respond to the information promptly and ensure you have completed all the necessary forms in PowerSchool.

We have a rich after school activities programme and I encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities. I wanted to remind MS families that their children should only be on campus after 3pm if they are engaged in an activity or the child is in the care of a responsible adult. If an activity starts after 3pm we have tried to ensure there are bridging activities (such as a homework club) that they can participate in. The schedule will be released imminently with activities starting on Monday 22nd for MS/HS.

I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and getting to know the students. I hope to see you at the upcoming Golden Gala Family Day (27th August) and/or MS/HS Open House (8th September).
