From the Middle/High School Principal

 Learners for Life

The start of any school year will see students setting goals to help them reach their full potential. Our teachers also set themselves targets for the year and Sarah Cusworth and I have the pleasure of hearing about what individuals have planned as part of our professional growth meetings. These one to one discussions centre around the habits of a highly effective teacher that were developed by ISA staff several years ago. They fall into four categories or themes; instructor, colleague, community member and lifelong learner. A teacher's goals are revisited later in the year and supported along the way with resources and professional development funding where relevant.

It has been inspiring to see all our teachers seeking out innovative ways to deliver material and explore current best practices. Staff who have taught for 20+ years continue to evolve their approaches to teaching. Pleasingly there is also often a high level of collaborative learning attached to planned activities.

I am confident you will see the benefits of this ongoing development in the form of increased engagement in their classes by your child, and ultimately improved learning habits. We are very much a community of learners.
