Ongoing Learning
Learning at ISA isn't limited to the under-18s. I am pleased that our teachers consider themselves to be lifelong learners.
This Friday the teachers will embark on a range of training activities as well as undertaking some collaborative planning for evolving projects and initiatives. Friday's sessions start with a guest speaker working with teachers on strategies to support ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) students. As well as curriculum work time in departments, there are opportunities later in the day for advisory teams to work together. The advisory system is now in its 3rd year and has a key role to play in our approaches to pastoral care and the development of the whole child. One of the final steps in building a sustainable advisory programme is to ensure a consistency of experience against our four strands (digital citizenship, study skills, wellbeing and active citizenship) that shows progression along our year groups. It makes a big difference that we are able to give time to this important task. In addition to these activities there are a range of workshops being offered as peer coaching sessions and the day concludes with whole-school work on the effective use of data.
It will be a busy and productive day for the longer term benefit of our students.
