From the Middle/High School Principal

Closing out and looking ahead

The semester has finished in an unexpected manner with the heavy snowfalls. I am grateful to all the families that helped their child reach school on the days we were open, especially those taking exams. The 8-block day we had on Thursday was an important opportunity for students to check in with teachers ahead of the break. Building on the reflections they have completed, it is important students start to think about next semester and how they plan to achieve their goals. The report cards will be helpful in discussions at home and doubtless teachers will have made specific recommendations to individuals in high school on the back of semester and mock exams. The three week break is an important time to recharge one's batteries but it can also be an opportunity to consolidate the last semester or get ahead with the next.

Students should also think about what extracurricular programmes they might like to get involved with in January. Basketball season is underway with some highly qualified coaches running sessions. Training culminates in a tournament against other international schools. Committing to a sport can require a little time management but the benefits of exercise and the joy of being a part of a team more than make up for a need to be organised. Please encourage your child to turn out and enjoy the sessions.

We wish you a restful and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming the students back on January 9th.
