Drug Prevention
Every other year ISA had worked with a group called Freedom From Chemical Dependence (FCD) where former addicts have spoken to students about their experiences and provided a safe space for questions on difficult topics. This year we are in between visits but have organised sessions from the UK-based Addiction Therapy group which is working with several independent schools in the area as part of their visit to the North East.
The group will be presenting to our grade 7-11 students across two tailored sessions and will also be holding a parent workshop at 1pm. The parent session will be on campus but if you would like to join and can't make it in, a link will be posted in the Community Hub for remote access. It will be worth spending a few minutes on Tuesday evening asking your child about the talk to encourage them to reflect on what they have learnt. This is a really important safeguarding piece for our young people and I hope the sessions support them in continuing to make good decisions and act as an upstander for friends.
