Blue Bars
For the past few weeks and for the foreseeable future, my calendar has been dotted with blue bars. Blue is the colour our admissions team uses to schedule a new student interview. The admissions process involves MAP testing and a writing sample, sharing of previous reports, completion of forms, submission of confidential teacher recommendations, EAL and LS testing (as required) and finally an interview with the divisional principal. These interviews are for August starts.
The students I have met recently have been of a very high calibre, coming from both the local area and overseas, and entering all grades across MS and HS. It is clear that ISA is an attractive proposition for prospective families and we have established a good reputation over the past 50 years. Verbal feedback from the recent Education Scotland inspection was very positive and I am confident that the final report by this objective third party will support the decision families are making to entrust their child's education to us.
The campus has capacity for these new students and the growing enrolment allows for a wider course offering (we have been able to reintroduce drama as a HS course) and I expect clubs and teams to thrive with more available participants. Staffing levels have been increased accordingly meaning more adults working collaboratively in the building.
Next Tuesday (25th) at 2pm we have an informal Q&A session online for parents and carers with children in elementary and middle school who have questions about programmes and pathways running from grades 9 to 12.
