From the Middle/High School Principal

 Final Week!

After a sunny graduation we enjoyed the Middle School Fine Arts day on Wednesday. Students got to participate in a range of fun activities from across their classes and were able to get a flavour of all the subject strands that were on offer this year. We were treated to music from our large instrumental ensemble and performances from the musical theatre class. A great deal of preparation and planning had gone into the day and I am grateful for the efforts of all teachers involved. Watching Mr Walter get the best out of 70 middle school students during a rehearsal (pictured) was an impressive site to behold. A special thank you must go to Ms Rea who lead the planning for the day.

Next week the middle school students can look forward to house challenges of various forms across Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday the semester comes to a close at 11am. Grade 9 and 11 semester exams finish on Monday and on Tuesday all of grade 9, 10 and 11 should come in for an 8-block day so they can check in with teachers ahead of the break.

This is my last Thistle post and I wanted to take the opportunity to recognise all our parents that are taking a supportive interest in their child's education and strengthening the home-school partnership. Engagement by families to encourage children to reflect on their learning, support school-wide celebrations and offer feedback to us to help us improve programmes is vital for the continued success of our school. I have worked at numerous schools and visited many more. Most have talked about the importance of community at their institution but ISA is the only place I have truly felt it. Thank you.
