Behavioral Activation - A big concept with a simple message...

Behavioral activation, a cognitive behavior skill, can help our children with worries and social withdrawal.  By identifying something they might be interested in we help them make small changes towards goals that will improve things like social interaction, hobbies, and sports.  CBT helps kids understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Behavioral activation helps us use behaviors to change our emotional state.

By helping children identify goals, and nurturing small changes or "tiny habits" to achieve those goals, we can help them change avoidance habits to participation over time, which helps to improve mood and self esteem.  These habits can help our children to feel more connected with friends.

Don't forget to check out our  Afterschool Activity Schedule for some ideas to engage with hobbies and friends.

Have a lovely weekend!

Warm regards,
