Reading for Wellbeing?
World Book Day is a special event in many schools, including ISA. Thanks to research, we also know that reading a novel is more important for mental health and social skills than previously thought. Of course if you are a bookworm like me, you already know this!
What does the research say?
- The ultimate stress reliever
- A workout for your brain
- A way to help you understand people better, and build your empathy skills
- Helps them to learn ways to handle social and emotional situations with more resilience
- Builds important language skills
- Nurtures the parent-child bond
My kindle recently stopped working, and the stack of "books" in my kindle, have turned into a stack of real life books. I won't tell you how high the stack of books is...but I certainly look forward reading my next mystery novel...
Happy reading this weekend!
Warm regards,
Valerie DeGraw
