Parent Teacher Conferences
The Parent Teacher Conferences will take place after school, between 3:00pm and 8:00pm on Monday (17 March) and Thursday (20 March), as well as all day on Friday (21 March). Please remember that there are no classes for students on Friday, March 21 because of the conference schedule.
Please also note that some of the after school activities and clubs have been cancelled on Monday, March 17, and Thursday, March 20. Our Head of School, Nick Little, sent out this letter to all parents/carers to explain this in detail. You can also access his letter here. I hope your Parent Teacher Conferences are very productive next week, and that follow-up talks at home serve to both reward the effort your children are making and to provide clear expectations about future goals and how to achieve them. These formal conferences are part of a vibrant, multi-layered communication process that should continue with regular feedback between and amongst parents/carers, students and teachers. Before the conference, I encourage parents/carers to ask their children about the feedback they have received at school and what areas they feel require further growth, as well as the places they are seeking more challenges. The best education occurs when there is a dynamic dialogue between everyone: students, parents/carers and teachers.
After School Care next year (August 2025) - LINK to survey
From August 2025, ISA will run our own programme of care for all students from 3:00pm-6:00pm. From August, for children in Kindergarten to Grade 6, the programme which we are preparing is a ‘home away from home’ experience, including a wider range of clubs and activities, opportunities for indoor & outdoor play, home-learning support and - optionally - a community dinner. Students who are signed up to the service will join a club/activity between 3:00 and 4:00pm. This hour would look and feel much like it currently does when a child has an after school activity. Between 4:00 and 5:00pm, there will be a choice of more relaxed activities, such as board games, puzzles, cooking/baking, reading or LEGO. Dinner would be served at 5:00pm; afterwards, students will help to clear up before heading home. Of course, families would be able to collect their children at any time that makes sense for them, with the latest pick-up being 6:00pm. In order to help us plan thoroughly for such a programme of care, we ask that you take the time to complete our survey. Your responses will help us to gauge the initial level of interest in such a plan, as well as provide you with a channel to ask questions and make suggestions.

If you have not already done so, please also take the time to complete our “Initial Input on Home Learning” survey. We are in the process of reflecting upon our current practices related to home learning (i.e., what some people might have called “homework” in the past) and we are soliciting thoughts from all members of the community: the children, the teaching staff and you - the parents and carers at home. You will note that there is a drop-down menu near the top of the survey; please select the description that most closely matches your identity/role. We thank you in advance for your input.
