Parting is such sweet sorrow
This week and the week ahead is always a mixture of sweetness and sorrow.
On the one hand we have celebrations to mark and enjoy the feeling of a year well lived - we have indeed been a community of reflective, thriving global citizens in Northeast Scotland and had a year of powerful holistic learning. As we embrace the IB philosophy even more richly, this is, as Mr Little says, not just about what we have learned (which is a broad high quality programme which keeps doors open) but how we learned it - the approaches to teaching and learning that the IB promote. Reflective, inquiry led, conceptual learning that builds the ISA values and lifelong habits of effective learning and working. That is worth celebrating and below is what that celebration looks like this in Grade 6!
We have a number of trips coming up that help us close the year as exams end in High School, and we begin to close down the year.
In any school, but especially in an international school, we also say goodbye to students who have visited us from across the world, or country, and have enriched and changed our community with their contributions during their time with us. It was lovely to be a part of celebrations like this one below with the Grade 10s and their Head of Grade saying a meaningful goodbye; a chance to say. we loved having you, we see you, and you will always be welcome back.
As Shakespeare says, parting is such sweet sorrow! Sorrow that something special is ending, and sweetness in the memories it makes us bring to mind whilst looking forward to times we'll see each other again.
