How is your Hygge?  Beating the winter blues with coziness...

Denmark is one of the happiest countries in the world according to the World Happiness Report 2025.

The World Happiness Report is published each year by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network - with an emphasis on looking at national wellbeing habits around the world.

We can’t all move to Denmark, but we can quite easily embrace a Hygge mindset this winter to improve our wellbeing and happiness during the cold season.  Hygge refers to the Danish habit of embracing harmony, coziness and togetherness.

Hygge habits include:

- Spending quality time with friends and loved ones

- Slowing down a wee bit

- Cultivating a cozy atmosphere indoors

- Enjoying nature walks

- Savouring the simple things in life

- Writing a letter or reading a book

- Getting enough Vitamin D - NHS Inform

With winter just around the corner, simple activities like sharing a cup of hot cocoa and a board game are a great way to start off your family Hygge habits this weekend.
