"This is My Place!"
In 2026, the leading children’s mental health charity Place2Be is centering its efforts on the theme "This is My Place," spotlighting the critical role of belonging in a child’s emotional development. Running from February 9–15, Children's Mental Health Week 2026 emphasizes that feeling safe, valued, and accepted within a community—whether in school, at home, or among peers—is not just a "nice-to-have" but a fundamental human need that directly impacts academic success and long-term resilience.
As an IB World School, the concepts of belonging and global citizenship are woven into the very fabric of the curriculum. By fostering an environment where diverse perspectives are not just tolerated but celebrated, our school nurtures an environment that strives for a community of being seen and heard.
This sense of belonging provides the emotional security students need to take intellectual risks, while the IB Learner Profile encourages them to act as compassionate global citizens. In 2026, this means equipping students with the cultural intelligence to navigate a complex world, ensuring they feel rooted in their immediate community while remaining deeply responsible for the global one.
Have a lovely weekend!
Warm Regards,
Valerie DeGraw
