Team Sports: The Ultimate Mood Booster
Ever noticed how you feel uplifted after a game, even if you’re exhausted? It’s not just the endorphins—it’s science!
Behavioral Activation:
In the world of psychology, there’s a concept called Behavioral Activation. It’s a fancy way of saying that action creates emotion. When we feel sluggish or stressed, sometimes we forget to stay active or involved. The act of "doing" helps to flip the script. By "showing up" for an activity, sport, or club -you help to break the cycle of inactivity, which naturally pulls your mood upward.
ISA Athletes on the Move - We are seeing the power of sport in action right now across the International School of Aberdeen community.
Our Girls’ Team is currently soaking up the sun at an international basketball tournament in Italy. They’re building lifelong memories and resilience.
Back in Aberdeen, our Boys’ Team is busy hosting an international basketball tournament at ISA. We’ve welcomed 110 visiting students to our campus, from international schools throughout Europe. It’s been a whirlwind of new friendships, high energy, and great sportsmanship.
Whether our students are scoring goals in Italy or welcoming guests in Scotland, they are proving that staying active together is a great way to stay happy and involved. A big thank you to all of the ISA families hosting our visitors this weekend!
Warm Regards,
Valerie DeGraw
School Counsellor
