Notes from the High School University and Careers Counsellor - Ms Barker
The University and Career Counselling office has seen a very productive period. Grade 10 students have conducted ‘deep dives’ into prospective careers and prerequisite course research, culminating in individualised IBDP subject selection sessions. Grade 11 students recently participated in Personal Statement workshops and are expected to produce initial application drafts over the summer. Engagement remains high during our ‘Career Spotlight’ sessions, with visiting speakers covering fields such as Medicine, Engineering, PR, Veterinary Science, and Architecture.
Our Grade 12 cohort is currently preparing for Prom and Graduation. We are pleased to report that students have received a variety of excellent offers across diverse pathways, including apprenticeships and universities in Scotland, the rest of the UK, Europe, and North America. A portion of the graduating class has elected to pursue a gap year to gain professional experience or develop life skills; the Counselling office will continue to provide support to these students during the next admissions cycle. High School students have also been active in a number of Sporting Tournaments, Model United Nations (MUN) trips and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, further strengthening their university applications.
